How do you use Ronseal Garden Paint?

To use Ronseal Garden Furniture Paint, follow these instructions (also note it should not be used on decking):

New wood: Allow 6 weeks for new wood to weather so all the coating has been removed. After this time, lightly sand the wood to remove any splinters or excess fibres. Then lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with methylated spirit to wipe the wood.

Old wood: Sand down any old wood that has been left outside or painted to create a smooth surface ready for application. Clean away any mould or algae and either harden or cut away any rotten wood. Use a stiff wire brush to prepare fences and sheds.

Other surfaces: For stone or brick, wipe away any debris or dust from the surface before starting. With terracotta, sand it down to remove any glazing. Before starting, sprinkle with water to see if it beads – if so, it will require more sanding. Finally, for metal, prime the surface before application. For darker colours use grey primer and for lighter colours use a white primer.
