Uses of PIR Board

PIR insulation boards are incredibly versatile and can be seamlessly integrated into various parts of a building. They are perfect for installation in a pitched roof between the joists and in a warm flat roof to ensure durable and efficient insulation. These high-performance PIR boards can also be used as insulation in timber framing walls, where they are custom-cut and fitted between sheets to reduce thermal conductivity. They can also be strategically placed between ceiling joists and floor joists.

PIR insulation boards are a perfect fit for a wide range of insulation needs, delivering exceptional thermal support due to their compressive strength while enabling swift and hassle-free installation.

In addition to standard PIR Insulation, there are specialised products available for specific applications such as cavity wall insulation, flat roof insulation materials, and dry lining. Throughout a building, PIR insulation can be used to provide robust thermal support, fire resistance and improve energy efficiency.

Our recommendation for under floor insulation is around 100mm to achieve the recommended U-value of 0.25W/m2K. For wall insulation, the recommended thickness is 125mm to achieve the u-value of 0.17W/m2K.

PIR insulation boards are known for their flexibility, due to the cells within them being able to bend without breaking. This allows the insulation boards to endure foot traffic without leaving a lasting imprint or dent which would affect the overall look of the board if left exposed.

PIR insulation boards have aluminium foil facings that reflect heat, conserve energy and serve as a cost-effective vapour barrier. This protects both the PIR boards and their application from moisture infiltration.
