What are circular patios used for?

You can use patio circles to create a standalone feature that works as a focal point in your garden. Position a table and chairs on top as a place to escape and relax outside for a while, or use it for alfresco dining during the warmer months of the year. Some households use them as a part of a patio stepping stone path or incorporated into a winding pathway. People who love to garden also use round paving slabs as a base for large centrepiece tree. There are a number of different ways you can make use of the patio circles to freshen up the garden and make it look and feel like no other.

How do you lay a patio circle?

Laying a patio circle includes the following steps: (1) Measure the diameter and location of the circular patio and then select the material you want to use for the project; (2) Measure out the radius of the circular patio by attaching a string to a pounded metal stake at the center point and spray out a circle through a can of marking paint on the edge of the string; (3) Excavate the area to 6 inches; (4) dampen the ground; (5) tamp a layer of gravel measuring 1 inch until a compacted gravel base is achieved; (6) Start laying pavers from the centre outwards; (7) install edging; and lastly (8) fill the joints with sand.
