What are paving circles?

Paving circles are an additional feature in the garden to create attractive centrepieces that bring character and a unique look to the space. At Armstrong Cheshire we sell a variety of patio circle kits that give you the option to form new patterns and shapes in your outdoor paving. The natural stone circles are easy to use and are not labour-intensive, adding a whole new dimension to your garden.

What are circular patios used for?

You can use patio circles to create a standalone feature that is a focal point in your garden. Position a table and chairs on top as a place to escape and relax outside for a while, or use it for alfresco dining during the warmer months of the year. Some households use them as a part of a patio stepping stone path or incorporated into a winding pathway. People who love to garden also use round paving slabs as a base for large centrepiece trees. There are several different ways you can make use of the patio circles to freshen up the garden and make it look and feel like no other.

How do you lay a patio circle?

Laying a patio circle involves the following clear steps:

  1. Measure and Material Selection:

    • Measure the diameter and location of the circular patio.
    • Choose the material for the project.
  2. Radius Measurement:

    • Attach a string to a pounded metal stake at the centre point.
    • Spray out a circle on the edge of the string using marking paint.
  3. Excavation:

    • Dig the area to a depth of 6 inches.
  4. Ground Preparation:

    • Dampen the excavated ground.
  5. Gravel Base:

    • Tamp a 1-inch layer of gravel until a compacted base is achieved.
  6. Paver Installation:

    • Start laying pavers from the centre outward.
  7. Edging Installation:

    • Install edging around the patio.
  8. Joint Filling:

    • Fill the joints between the pavers with sand.
