Brick and stone naturally absorb rainwater, which can lead to damage and crumbling in freezing conditions. This product dries quickly to create an invisible, water-repellent shield while still permitting surfaces to breathe. It is ideal for protecting pointing, render, stone, concrete, terracotta, and plaster surfaces.

Preparation

Ensure all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free from any substances that could affect adhesion, such as loose or flaking material.

If there is any mould or fungal growth, treat the surface with a fungicidal wash and allow it to dry before applying the Brickwork Waterproofer & Protector. Repair any cracks or weak points in the pointing. Ideally, clean masonry should be stripped back to bare brick, mortar, or render to maximise the effectiveness of the treatment.

Application

It is recommended to conduct a compatibility test before full application. Do not dilute the product; it is ready to use as supplied. Avoid applying when the outside temperature is below 10°C (50°F) or if rain is expected.

Before use, shake the product well and apply generously using a brush or roller. A second coat is typically necessary and should be applied within one hour of the first coat. Allow 24 hours for the treatment to fully dry. Depending on surface porosity and temperature conditions, drying time is generally 4 to 6 hours. Ensure no pooling occurs on horizontal surfaces. Very porous surfaces may require an additional coat for enhanced water repellency.

Sandtex Brickwork Waterproofer & Protector is effective only on clean, unsealed masonry and should not be applied over painted or sealed surfaces. Blockwork with numerous cavities may not achieve complete waterproofing.
