18mm OSB3 Sterling Board OSB Sheet - Armstrong Cheshire

OSB Board - Handy Sized Sheets & Large Sheets

Oriented Strand Board (OSB) has become a popular choice in construction and DIY projects. While plywood was once the go-to material, OSB3 boards now offer many benefits for homeowners and builders alike. OSB3 is a type of OSB specifically designed for load-bearing and structural applications in humid conditions. It is stronger and more durable than standard OSB, making it ideal for roofing, flooring, and other construction purposes. OSB 3 is available in various thicknesses, including 9mm, 11mm, and 18mm, to suit a range of project needs.

At Armstrong Cheshire, we offer a variety of OSB board sizes and thicknesses, including tongue and groove (T&G) boards for roofing and sterling boards for load bearing purposes. All products are responsibly sourced and perform well in humid conditions, and can be purchased alongside our plywood sheets.

Strong and Durable

OSB board is strong, with up to 50 layers of strands, each crossed to enhance strength. This makes it ideal for dry lining, subflooring, or decking. Available in 9mm, 11mm, and 18mm thicknesses, OSB is generally more energy-efficient than materials like steel or concrete.

Efficient Manufacturing

OSB is made from strands of wood sourced from small, specially planted trees, protecting mature forests. Almost all parts of the tree are used, minimising waste. The modern waxes and resins used in OSB production also make it safer for contractors.

Cost Effective

OSB is a more affordable alternative to plywood, which requires more precise manufacturing due to its thicker material. Given its durability and versatility, OSB is a cost-effective option for both home and professional projects.

Reduced Water Absorption

OSB is ideal for roof decking as it absorbs water more slowly than plywood and can be treated for waterproofing. Although it takes longer to dry after exposure to moisture, it is suitable for areas of the roof that won’t be left exposed. OSB also offers more consistent surface quality than plywood, which can vary in quality.

Environmentally friendly

OSB boards also provide more green benefits due to the trees that are used to make them and the fact that every part of the trees used in production can be used. All of the OSB board products we sell at Armstrong have been resourced responsibly, reducing the impact on the environment. They are all British Board of Agreement (BBA) approved and do not feature any added formaldehyde, helping you make the right ecological choice for your next project.
