FAQ
All of our C16 and C24 graded timber is regularised
Regularised timber is timber that has been processed to have a uniform shape and size. This means that the wood has been sawn and planed to remove any irregularities and ensure that each piece of wood has consistent dimensions. Regularised timber is often used in construction, particularly in the framing of buildings, as it is easier to work with and can be more efficiently installed than irregularly shaped timber.
We have one of the largest ranges of timber lengths, dimensions and grades available to buy online.
The variation you require will determine the exact lead time and delivery method.
Most orders arrive within 3-4 days, the maximum is 7 days. Please get in touch before you order if you need a specifc delivery date.
Delivery charges vary by postcode. To find out the delivery charge, add the item(s) you require to your basket and select CALCULATE SHIPPING at the bottom of the page.
Some orders are delivered on our own vehicles based in Leicestershire and Cheshire. We also use carriers including Yodel and Tuffnells. For some sizes and locations we use regional distributors.
If you'd prefer crane offloading rather than tail lift vehicle offloading for your brick order then this service is available for the majority of bricks that we sell. Charges are shown at checkout.
For deliveries of less than 6 packs then Taillift offloading is normally a more cost effective option
Acoustic plasterboard is designed to improve sound insulation in internal wall and ceiling systems by reducing the transmission of airborne noise. Commonly specified in residential, commercial and multi-occupancy buildings, sound plasterboard is used where improved acoustic performance is required between rooms, floors or adjoining properties.
Our range of acoustic plasterboard includes trusted products from Knauf, Gyproc and Siniat, all manufactured to recognised standards and supported by published test data. Often referred to as soundproof plasterboard or sound deadening plasterboard, these products are more accurately described as sound reducing plasterboard, contributing to improved acoustic performance when installed as part of a tested system.
We stock sound insulation plasterboard from manufacturers widely specified by architects and contractors:
Gyproc SoundBloc plasterboard
Gyproc SoundBloc is a specialist acoustic plasterboard designed to reduce airborne sound transmission in walls and ceilings. The board has a higher density core than standard plasterboard and is commonly used in partitions and separating walls. SoundBloc is a Gyproc brand name, with 15mm Gyproc SoundBloc board being a popular choice where enhanced sound reduction is required.
Knauf Soundshield Plus
Knauf Soundshield Plus is an acoustic plasterboard engineered for improved sound insulation performance. It is designed for use in internal wall and ceiling systems where sound reduction is a key requirement, in line with Knauf tested specifications.
Siniat acoustic plasterboard (dB board)
Siniat dB sound plasterboard is manufactured to provide increased density and improved acoustic performance compared to standard boards. It is suitable for a wide range of internal applications where noise reduction is required.
We stock the most commonly specified acoustic plasterboard thicknesses:
12.5mm acoustic plasterboard – suitable for standard sound reducing wall and ceiling systems
15mm acoustic plasterboard – including 15mm SoundBloc plasterboard, offering increased sound insulation performance when specified
These boards may also be referred to as sound block plasterboard, soundboard plasterboard or sound proofing plasterboard, although performance always depends on the full wall or ceiling build-up.
Acoustic plaster boards are widely used in bedrooms, flats, offices, home cinemas and commercial spaces where noise transfer needs to be reduced. Sound plasterboard is typically installed as part of a complete acoustic system, often alongside acoustic insulation, metal or timber studwork, and correct sealing details.
While sometimes described as soundproof plasterboard, no plasterboard alone will fully soundproof a space. Sound reducing plasterboard contributes to improved acoustic performance when installed in accordance with manufacturer guidance and tested system designs.
