How do you use Joint-It Simple?
To use Joint-It Simple paving grout follow these 5 simple steps. Always read the instructions provided with the product before application:
- Soak the paving: Before opening Joint-It Simple paving grout the finished paving has to be thoroughly soaked with water. Do not let the paving dry and keep it wet as the product is applied, ensuring you have a hose turned on throughout.
- Open the product: Joint-It brush in patio grout is vacuum packed inside the bucket. When you are ready, open the bag and steadily pour it out onto the surface area you are working on.
- Sweep it in: Use a hard bristle brush to sweep the grout into the joints, ensuring the paving is soaking wet with water before this begins. Keep re-wetting the paving as you work to ensure the grout fills up the joints.
- Final soak: Once you have filled all of the joints with the brush in jointing compound and the paving has partially dried, soak the paving once more with water. Let the paving and compound dry out completely. This should take around 15-45 minutes depending on the weather conditions at the time.
- One more sweep: The final step requires you to use a soft bristle brush to sweep over the paving, allowing you to top up the joints with the compound until all of the gaps are completely filled. Once finished sweep away any excess that is left over.
How long does it take for Joint-It Simple to set?
When exposed to an average temperature of around 20° it should set and become hard in about 4 hours. The warmer the climate, the quicker it will set. Similarly, the lower the temperature the longer it will take.
Does Joint-It Simple go hard?
When the brush in jointing compound comes into contact with air it starts to harden, which is why you need to keep it wet during the installation process. If you have any leftover, place it back in the bucket and cover it with clean water where it will remain usable for up to 12 weeks.
