Why should I use Resiblock stone sealer?

Resiblock creates a barrier that provides stain protection from moss and algae that can discolour the surface of your paving. It can work as an invisible line of defence against water penetration and other liquid spills that can occur, such as car oil or beverages.

It’s a sandstone patio sealer that can resist any type of liquid or chemical to maintain the integrity of the material. Once applied it filters down into the porous stonework to form additional layers of protection against dirt and fluid damage.

You can use Resiblock sandstone sealer as a patio sealer, or on driveways and paths to form long-term weatherproof resistance. The colour enhancer option helps to bring out the natural colour of the stone, while also offering protection in areas exposed to high levels of UV radiation.

Can I use it on any other stone surfaces?

You can also use Resiblock Indian stone sealers on sandstone, yorkstone, limestone and other types of natural stone. It will remain invisible on most natural stone surfaces, with the exception of limestone.

How many layers do I have to apply?

Resiblock state that you should not normally need to apply more than a single coat, unless the surface is to be rendered impervious.

What sort of finish will it create on the stone?

Once applied there will be a clear matt finish on the surface of the stone. This will help to enhance the natural colour to rejuvenate the stonework and make the area look almost like new again. Resiblock offer colour enhance, invisible, matt and gloss finishes.

Are there any surfaces I cannot use Resiblock stone sealer on?

Resiblock Indian is not suitable as a surface sealer for application on engineering bricks, imprinted concrete, marble, quarry tiles and exposed aggregate panels. Contact Resiblock’s technical team for more information.

Can I apply Resiblock stone sealer on top of other sealers?

If you have previously applied a different brand of sealer you can still use Resiblock, providing the previous sealer is not silicon based. It’s a good idea to contact the manufacturer if you are unsure whether your existing sealer is silicon based and they will be able to help.

How do I apply a sandstone paving sealer?

The product will come with its own application instructions that you should follow as closely as possible. However, in general terms you will be using the steps below:

  • Clean the application area to ensure it is dry and free from dirt.
  • Apply the product using either sponge, paint Pad or brush.
  • Sandstone paving sealers like Resiblock will require around 8 hours drying time, so ensure it is applied on a warm, dry day, although avoid days where temperatures are above 30°.
  • When a Resiblock application roller is used the sealant is easy to apply. Use a builder’s sponge clean roller to remove any build up in depressions on the surface.
  • Porosity will affect application rates but coverage will be typically be between 4-6m² per litre, although this also depends on the paving area size.
  • Do not walk on the sealed area for at least 3 hours after application and keep vehicles off for at least 24 hours.

How long will Resiblock’s stone sealer last on natural stone?

When applied to sandstone surfaces you can expect long lasting protection. Based on average footfall and weather conditions it should provide a transparent shield for around 5 years after which you should follow the application instructions to add a new layer to the sandstone surfaces.

Is this suitable for internal sandstone floors?

Resiblock stone sealer is suitable for both internal and external floors. The same temperature guidelines should be followed for floors inside the property.

Can I use Resiblock stone sealer on a new patio?

You can use Resiblock as a sandstone patio sealer on a newly laid patio, as vapour will be able to pass through the stone to enable it to breathe.

Will Resiblock stone sealer make the paving slippery?

When installed correctly, Resiblock’s stone sealer will not have any adverse affect on the skid resistance value of the paving. Also be sure to follow the instructions provided with the product to avoid any issues once it has been applied.

How do I remove any splashes or spills that occur during application?

If you notice any splashes or spills you should try to remove these as soon as possible. Resiblock’s water based sealants can be removed using a mixture or warm water and a mild detergent. Pre-polymer urethane products should use Resiblock Resiclean before it cures otherwise it will prove very difficult to remove.

What happens if I get Resiblock stone sealer on my hands?

We always advise you to use gloves and other protective equipment (which will also be mentioned in the instructions). If you get Resiblock sealant on your hands you should wash them with warm soapy water as soon as possible.
